​As a result of a partnership between Clarion’s anthropology program and Allegheny National Forest, eight Clarion students participated in a month-long excavation near West Hickory in Forest County about a mile from the Allegheny River.  The students slowly pieced together the history of the people who once lived in what is now the national forest.  The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Tribune Review both published stories about the initiative.
