PACT 2016 Spring Conference

On behalf of the PACT Executive Board, thank you for participating in the 2016 PACT Spring Conference that was held at the Hilton Harrisburg Hotel on March 31-April 1, 2016. 


The presenters were dynamic and sessions were full of valuable information that can be best appreciated by attending. A brief summation and highlights from the sessions follow: 

  • Mr. Cary Lou, Senior Analyst with the Center on Education and the Workforce of Georgetown University, provided the opening keynote session on Thursday, March 31 - “Degrees of Value: College Majors and the Pennsylvania State System’s Contribution to the Workforce”, a report which he co-authored.
  • Dr. Alberto Acereda, Senior Director of Education Testing Service, presented a session on Aligning Programs for Effective Transitions.
  • President’s panel  session  presented by Dr. Michael Driscoll, President of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Dr. Karen Whitney, President of Clarion University of Pennsylvania, generated a great discussion over dinner on “Listening to the Voices of  21st Century Students”.
  • Dr. Daniel Greenstein of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation  opened the session Friday morning and spoke on  “Pennsylvania and the Road to Higher Education 2025”.
  • Other session highlights included a first time student leadership workshop on Personal Branding, presented by Right Management consultants  as well as several exciting workshops presented by State System Administrators  on topics such as “The Evolving Role of Trustees in Academic Affairs”, “Program Alignment Toolkit”, and  “Building Successful Partnerships to Align Resources”.
  • In closing, Mr. David Patti, President of the PA Business Council moderated an informative  discussion with Chancellor Brogan and Board of Governor’s Chairman,  Mr. Guido Pichini, on  “Modernizing the State System: Strategically Positioning the System for the Future”.
