Purpose of the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs

Efforts in the Office of the Chancellor

The purpose of the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs is to enhance the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education's Board of Governors strategic initiatives by establishing diversity as a cornerstone of excellence throughout PASSHE. This mission will be accomplished by developing, implementing and encouraging PASSHE policies and initiatives that:

  • Promote diversity as a key element in the intellectual and interpersonal development of communities where PASSHE universities are located.
  • Continue to recruit and retain students, faculty and staff from underrepresented groups and ensure PASSHE universities are monitored on their accountability in these areas.
  • Ensure that all PASSHE students experience a variety of racial, ethnic, cultural and international perspectives in their curricular and co-curricular experiences.
  • Continue to expand partnerships with schools and community organizations to develop pre-college programs to increase the number of students in underrepresented groups who enroll and graduate from PASSHE universities.
