Demystifying Evaluation to Effectively Capture Evidence of Impact

Evaluation can be utterly confusing—and, rightly so! There are many lenses from which to view and conduct an evaluation. That’s because it’s colored with aspects of research and assessment as well as the tools, designs, and approaches they share. Evaluation isn’t an activity that simply occurs at the end of a program, course, technology, or some other type of intervention. It’s something that needs to be designed before launching your intervention, as multiple and simultaneous evaluation activities undoubtedly will occur throughout. The knowledge and skills needed to write a clear and cogent evaluation plan are particularly valuable—especially, in a time of increasing competition for postsecondary institutions to secure external grant funding. The purpose of this webinar is to increase awareness and understanding of practical user-friendly tools and strategies that can be put to use right away. The intent is to shift your thinking about how to approach evaluation and effectively capture evidence of varying levels impact. Real time examples and practical user-friendly resources applicable across disciplines and units of analysis will be shared. A navigational map providing insights into “what is” evaluation will be introduced to assist you in strategically taking charge of your next evaluation. Grant seekers and individuals interested in and/or charged with carrying out an evaluation will benefit from this session.
