Mobile Learning: Applications That Change Distraction to Discussion

Purdue University offers students and faculty a series of mobile applications designed for use both in and out of the classroom. Learn how a collection of focused mobile tools can be broadly implemented by a variety of courses to enable student collaboration and assessment.

Kyle Bowen is director of informatics at Purdue University, where he leads a development group focused on creating innovative applications within teaching, learning, and research. Kyle recently led development of Hotseat, a new social networking-powered tool that enables students to collaborate via Twitter or Facebook both inside and outside of the classroom.
 
Author of the Exploring Dreamweaver series of books, Kyle has also contributed to, or served as technical director for, more than 20 books within the areas of Web design, development and usability. His work has been featured by the New York Times, USA Today, CNET, and The Chronicle of Higher Education. Kyle's broad range of experience includes developing Web strategies, applications, and instructional media within industry, government and higher education.
