Developing a Plan and Process to Implement QM and Incentivize Faculty

This presentation will lay out the steps FIU took to ensure the complete integration of QM for the improvement
and design of online courses. Topics will include resource allocation needed to fund a QM initiative, the use of
a pilot program to inform internal processes, the role of marketing and faculty training, and the importance of
faculty support and recognition in gaining QM certification. Participants will learn techniques that can be
replicated and ideas that can be modified to fit their institution’s particular culture and structure.

Herminia Lezcano, Florida International University
Allison Miner is a nationally recognized expert and public speaker in child, teen and adult nutrition specializing in weight management. She appears frequently on cable, television, radio, and Internet broadcasts on a variety of nutrition topics.

Allison Miner is Professor of Nutrition and Food Science at Prince George’s Community College and a Quality Matters, institutional representative, trainer and master reviewer. She is presently implementing QM at Florida International University Online and serves as their quality assurance manager.
 
Herminia Lezcano is the Quality Assurance Administrator and Quality Matters Institution Representative at Florida International University. Her position at FIU is primarily focused upon organizing every aspect of a Quality Matters course review.  Before assuming her current position, Herminia was an experienced Instructional Designer at Florida International University.
