Teaching science laboratories online is a relatively new and somewhat controversial concept. This presentation will focus on the use of Desire2Learn Learning Suite for development and implementation of online laboratory courses. It will explore advantages of using the online environment, pedagogical advantages and disadvantages of this approach and diverse materials used. Statistics comparing performance of online vs ground students will be reported and future plans outlined.

Pam is a Professor of Biology at Walters State Community College in Morristown, Tennessee and holds  a Ph.D. in Microbiology from Vanderbilt University. 

She has developed online Microbiology and Anatomy and Physiology courses with laboratories for the Tennessee Regents Online Campus Collaborative and oversees the continuous upgrading and administration of these courses.
