Initiative Updates

Find important and recent updates regarding the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education’s (PASSHE) Professional Science Master’s (PSM) Initiative.

Through this initiative, PASSHE aims to:

  • Launch at least five PSM degree programs across PASSHE for the Fall 2012 semester.
  • Establish Employer Advisory Boards to:
    1. Advise program development
    2. Identify professional internships for program students
    3. Cultivate job opportunities for program graduates
The PSM Initiative began in 1997 with a series of grants from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation to selected research universities to create graduates with more of an employer-orientation than traditional graduate degrees in science and mathematics.

PASSHE participants eagerly discuss plans for their
respective programs at the launch meeting held in February.
