- During the fall, two non-class days are reserved and are to be scheduled at the discretion of the university (e.g., fall break, extended Thanksgiving holiday, etc).
- Classes normally will begin on Monday during the last week of August and final exams end on Friday during the first week in May.
- Five full calendar weeks are between each semester.
- Scheduled holidays are Labor Day (first Monday in September) and the Thursday and Friday at Thanksgiving (fourth Thursday of November).
- Spring break is mid-way in the spring semester (after the 7th week of classes).
- Saturday classes may be scheduled within this model (with class time on Saturday substituting for other instructional time). Normally no classes are scheduled on the Saturday following Thanksgiving and the Friday of Spring break.
