how the universities relate to their communities.
PASSHE universities enhance the quality of life in their communities while contributing to the economic and cultural well being of their regions and the Commonwealth. The staff of the External Relations Division helps to communicate that vital role in a variety of ways, serving as PASSHE's liaison to both state and federal government; working with students, alumni, university trustees and others on advocacy efforts on behalf of the State System; and interacting with the news media, business groups and other educational organizations to deliver the message about the value of Pennsylvania's public universities. Ensuring healthy relationships that are mutually beneficial to both the universities and their host communities are an essential part of PASSHE's mission of ensuring student success.
how PASSHE partners with the Commonwealth
in creating and delivering a shared vision of the future.
As the largest provider of higher education in the Commonwealth, PASSHE universities will continue to play a major role in Pennsylvania's future. Ninety percent of PASSHE students are Pennsylvania residents and eighty percent will remain in the state immediately after graduation. PASSHE graduates are the business and community leaders Pennsylvania's economy needs to succeed. By working together with leaders from government and the private sector, PASSHE universities are helping to shape and meet the Commonwealth's goals, providing innovative thinking and resources in the face of unprecedented fiscal challenges. The External Relations Division helps to coordinate those efforts.
