Healthy U Overview and History

What is Healthy U?
Healthy U is the State System workplace wellness program negotiated for faculty, non-faculty coaches, police and security personnel, nurses, and provided through policy to management (see the General Information FAQs). Highmark Blue Shield provides the wellness services. Healthy U is a customized plan for State System employees, spouses, and same-sex domestic partners.  The program offers additional voluntary tools and resources that can be explored and used at your convenience. All personal health information you provide as a participant in the program will be kept strictly confidential and participation is voluntary (see FAQs on Confidentiality).
Who is Eligible?
If you are enrolled in the State System of Higher Education Group Health Program’s PPO or Indemnity health care plan, you and your covered spouse or same-sex domestic partner are strongly encouraged to participate in Healthy U
What is Wellness Rewards WebMD?
Wellness Rewards WebMD is Highmark’s on-line program that provides the venue for you and your covered spouse or same-sex domestic partner to complete the requirements for Healthy U. Wellness Rewards WebMD will track your progress in meeting the Healthy U requirements. Entry to Wellness Rewards WebMD is provided through Highmark’s website at
How do I Qualify for Lower Health Plan Contributions?
Each Healthy U plan year will have different requirements for participation, in addition to different timeframes in which to complete the required activities.
This year's requirements:
1) Complete the Wellness Profile (worth 30 points)
2) Complete the array of programs, activities, or qualifying exams to earn points for a total of 70 points
When does the program run and what are the deadlines?
The current Healthy U wellness year runs from July 1, 2014 - May 31, 2015. If you are hired on or after March 27, 2015 you do not have to satisfy the requirements for Healthy U until the following plan year (2015/16).
