What’s New for July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019
 
New Highmark ID Cards
Employees enrolled in the Highmark Blue Shield PPO plan will receive new health plan ID cards.  Faculty and coaches enrolled in the UPMC HMO will receive a new Highmark prescription ID cardsYou will receive new ID cards prior to July 1, 2018. Please discard your old cards once you receive your new ones. If you or any covered dependents have moved, please notify your campus HR office to update your address.
 
New Shingles Vaccine Added to Preventive Schedule
Individuals age 50 and over can now obtain the new Shingrix vaccine.  Unlike Zostovax, which is covered for individuals age 60 and over, Shingrix is approved for individuals age 50 and over and may be more effective.
 
Annual Spouse Attestation (employees hired on or after 7/1/2013)
Coverage for your spouse/domestic partner in the State System’s health plan requires that your spouse/partner enroll in their own employer’s group health plan, if available, for their primary health care coverage. If your current attestation on file with your university is more than ten months old, you will be required to attest to your spouse/partner’s health coverage eligibility and enrollment status this Fall.
 
Instead of waiting until this Fall, you may take this opportunity now to review/update your spouse attestation information. Otherwise, you may be required to review/update your spouse attestation this Fall.
 
Wellness
A new Diabetes Prevention Program is available to Highmark Members. According to the American Diabetes Association, 1 in 3 adults in the US has prediabetes, but 9 out of 10 don’t know they have it!  Log onto the Highmark Blue Shield Website, and from the Member home page, click on “Diabetes Prevention” to see if you meet the requirements to participate.
 
Don’t forget! The Healthy U Deadline is May 31, 2018.
 
Making Open Enrollment Changes
   
If you want to remain in the same medical plan and have no dependent changes, no action is required.
 
Unless you experience a qualifying life event, now is your only opportunity to:
-       Enroll, change, or drop your medical plan with an effective date of July 1, 2018
 
-       Add or drop dependents covered by your medical plan.
  Changes can be made via Employee Self- Service  
  starting April 23 through May 4, 2018.
