Cal U’s Dr. David Argent (kneeling), a professor in California University’s Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences, works with teachers from Connellsville Elementary and Connellsville Area Career & Technology Center as they learn hands-on research techniques at Mingo Creek Park. In all, about 30 teachers took part in the HQ-TEEMS Summer Institute held in June. The five-year, grant-funded HQ-TEEMS project is designed to train special education teachers to meet the state Education Department’s requirements for professional educators designated as “highly qualified teachers” in math and science.
