Millersville University offers a picturesque 250-acre campus located in beautiful Lancaster County, The campus features a mix of historic buildings and modern structures, open spaces, gardens and walkways.  One of the favorite spots on campus is the pond, which features a gazebo, benches, ducks and the university’s two resident swans – Miller and S’ville. The university is located in Millersville Borough, which provides the safety and convenience of a small town (population approximately 7,300 residents). The borough has a community park and two recreation facilities including picnic area and a walking path. Located just three miles from Millersville is downtown Lancaster, which features a wealth of shopping, cafes, restaurants, historical places and entertainment. Millersville also has a state-of-the-art facility located in the heart of Lancaster city. The university features a full calendar of rich cultural opportunities at both Millersville and Lancaster. The university’s central location affords easy access to major East Coast cities such as Baltimore and Philadelphia (one hour away), and Washington, D.C., and New York City, only two-to-three hours from campus.

Master of Science in Integrated Scientific Applications (MSISA) – As a recently approved interdisciplinary master’s program, MSISA will allow graduate students to combine applied science with pre-professional training in business, finance and accounting, organizational communication, management and leadership. It is a program for scientists with business savvy; who not only understand the science but the economy of solution strategies and how to communicate them. Students in the field of environmental and climate science can specialize in areas such as Environment Systems Management, GeoInformatics, Weather Intelligence and Risk Management and Climate Science Applications. With the program’s involvement of real-world problems, scientific research and public service, MSISA offers the critical management and technological competencies needed for the workforce of today and the emerging professions of tomorrow.

Biology – The Department of Biology at Millersville University is as diverse as life itself. Biology majors are given a plethora of opportunities ranging from degrees in Animal Behavior, Botany and Environmental Biology to Marine and Molecular biology.  The department also features medical options including Medical Technology, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Respiratory Therapy and Pre-Med, Pre-Dent and Pre-Vet.  Walking through their department building is like taking a stroll through a small museum. There are fish tanks, various environmental findings on the walls and a countless number of research labs that are buzzing with activity. Students will find themselves working in facilities such as the botanical glasshouse, the molecular biology and genetics laboratories, the Keever Ecological Study Area, and even the Marine Science Consortium, located in Wallops Island, Virginia. Millersville biology graduates have found careers working in various universities across America, as scientists at the Smithsonian Institutes, specialists at the National Aquarium in Baltimore and as researchers at the National Cancer Institute.

Profile

Millersville University enrolls a total of 8,725 students, including 7,644 undergraduates. The student body is 57 percent female and 43 percent male. Students of color make up 11.4 percent of the student population. Ninety-five percent of MU students are Pennsylvania residents.
