First, I would like to express my appreciation to the past president of the PACT, Mr. Jeff Smith, for his strong leadership and tireless effort in bringing the trustee’s voice to the Chancellor and Board of Governors.
My nearly 30 years on the Kutztown Council of Trustees and my years in the leadership of PACT have taught me much about higher education and the challenges we all face. While the Board of Governors deal with system-wide decisions and interests, members of councils of trustees are devoted to their home institutions and our primary interest is the sustainability of our schools – all of which are well over 100 years old – and ensure their mission and importance to their communities are secured for many years to come.
I want you to know that I am committed to working with the Board of Governors and System leaders to address the many challenges before us that might put at risk the future of our institutions. I look forward to working with you to give our input on what the strongest indicators might be with regard to a university’s success. The past hundred and fifty years or so have presented many challenges along the way for our institutions, and I’m sure that working together we can deal with the challenges we are currently facing.
Shortly you will be receiving an invitation to participate in the PACT fall regional meetings, October 20 and 22, 2020. Your participation is vital and we welcome each of you to be part of the discussions regarding the integration planning that will affect ALL our universities.
My best wishes to all,
Council of Trustees Member, Kutztown University
