Medical and Supplemental Insurance

Coverage for adult children automatically ends on the last day of the month in which your child turns 26.

Exception: Coverage for foster children and children for whom you are the court-appointed legal guardian or legal custodian ends on the last day of the month the child turns 18.

You do not need to take any action to remove your child from your health plan; coverage will end automatically.  Your child will receive notification from the PEBTF informing them of the option to continue coverage by paying the full premium (COBRA coverage) and will be provided a 60-day window to enroll.

Life and Accident Insurance

Voluntary Group Life and Accident Insurance (CIGNA):

If you elected Voluntary Life and Accident coverage for your child(ren), they may remain covered until they turn 19, or if a full time student, until they turn 26.  If you no longer have any children eligible for coverage, you must contact your Human Resources office to cancel your child Voluntary Life and Accident coverage.
Once no longer eligible, your child has the option to continue coverage through either the portability or conversion options.  If interested in continuation options for child coverage, please contact your Human Resources office for an application. There is a 31 day window following the coverage ending date to apply for continuation.
