this spring with a degree in communication studies. She got engaged, launching the next chapter of her life. A few days later she graduated college, concluding her latest chapter with a momentous achievement as someone living with cystic fibrosis.

received honorary doctorates May 7 as the University held its 194th Commencement ceremony. In all, 1,062 students earned associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in January and May 2022.

Graduating seniors Shadé Stokes-Campbell and Magdelynn Wigoda have spent their years at East Stroudsburg University
with a desire to lead and serve others. Stokes-Campbell, a public health major, was awarded the University Service Award for the 2021-22 academic year. Wigoda, a communication sciences and disorder major, was awarded the University Leadership Award.
ROTC leadership team officially commissioned seven cadets from the Fighting Scots Battalion during the on-campus ceremony. Cadets Emily Eason, Gabrielle Eberle, Cole Fuller, Matthew James-Thrower, Jack Parker, Alexis Rodenbaugh and Laura Zimmerman will now enter military duty as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army.

Army ROTC hosted their annual commissioning ceremony on May 7. During the event 16 cadets were commissioned as second lieutenants. The ceremony featured comments from Ltc. Michael Firmin, chair of the military science department, Colonel Robert Lissner, Retired, and President President Charles Patterson. The 16 cadets celebrated their graduation from Shippensburg University later in the day.
Slippery Rock University
hosted its annual Celebration of Achievement awards ceremony recognizing faculty and students for their outstanding contributions in the areas of academics, research, scholarship, creative activities and more. The highlight of the annual event is the announcement of SRU's finalist for the Syed R. Ali-Zaidi Award for Academic Excellence, which is given to a graduating senior in Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education who exemplifies academic excellence and involvement.
A team of four West Chester University
students, including two graduating seniors, placed first in a national debating competition hosted by the Delegation of the European Union to the United States in Washington, D.C. More than 20 colleges participated in the prestigious contest, the 2022 Annual European Union Schuman Challenge, including students from Yale University, Georgetown University, and American University.
