STUDENT LEADERS ELECT 1998-99 EXECUTIVE BOARD

Student government leaders from the 14 state-owned universities have elected their 1998-99 executive board.
Zachary I. Cattell, a junior at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, will serve as chairperson of the State System of Higher Education’s Board of Student Government Presidents (BSGP).
David Day of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania will serve as vice chairperson; Luke Lorenz of Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, secretary/treasurer; and Tammi Snyder of Clarion University of Pennsylvania, parliamentarian.
The BSGP’s purpose is to establish goals that will help to improve the health, welfare and quality of education for students at the 14 state-owned universities. The presidents of each of the 14 student government organizations comprise the Board, which is expected to provide leadership to the student bodies at the State System institutions, to represent student views and opinions throughout Pennsylvania and to strengthen student government systems.
Cattell is the son of Bruce Cattell and Dr. Frances Cleland of West Chester. He is president of West Chester University’s Student Government Association and is majoring in political science.
Day is the son of Peter Day and Judy Kieffer of Cambridge, England. He is president of Edinboro University’s Student Government Association and is majoring in communications.
Lorenz is the son of David and Paula Lorenz of West Chester. He is president of Lock Haven University’s Student Cooperative Council and is majoring in computer information science.
Snyder is the daughter of Sally L. Snyder of Clarion. She is president of Clarion University’s Student Senate and is majoring in communications.
The State System of Higher Education comprises 14 universities throughout the Commonwealth and is the largest provider of higher education in the state, with approximately 95,000 students. Nearly 350,000 System alumni live and work in Pennsylvania.
The state-owned universities are Bloomsburg, California, Cheyney, Clarion, East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Indiana, Kutztown, Lock Haven, Mansfield, Millersville, Shippensburg, Slippery Rock, and West Chester Universities of Pennsylvania. The System also operates branch campuses in Clearfield, Kittanning, Oil City and Punxsutawney and several regional centers.
