Data Governance and Policy Support

Policymakers rely on data for decision making. Given the volume of data and varying interpretations, it is critical to have data governance to ensure universities and System leaders have a shared understanding of the data. High-quality data governance, a body or process designed to make decisions about how data are linked, used, accessed, and protected, is key to establishing a culture of effective data. The State System engages stakeholders throughout the System as well as national resources to facilitate this process across all areas of data collected at the system level.

This service provides:

  • Support and guidance for the systemwide management of data, including its availability, usability, integrity, quality, and security in order to provide continued value systemwide and to respond to requests for information and data to address policy questions from the Office of the Chancellor and State System universities, as needed.
  • Centralized stored data systems and processes that enable the Analytics team to provide actionable data back to stakeholders including policymakers, practitioners, and the general public.
