West Chester University’s Center for STEM Inclusion has received a historic $10.26 million federal GEAR UP grant. This seven-year program will assist 1,833 sixth- and seventh-graders on their college journey, in partnership with Young Men and Women in Charge (YMWIC). The total investment, including a matching $10,273,396 in non-federal funding, amounts to $20,535,375.

Students in West Chester University’s Dub-C Autism Program (D-CAP) have an internship opportunity at Fitness Factory West Chester. David Shurina, one of those interns, recently spoke on a 6abc Action News segment about his experiences completing graphic design, photography, and videography assignments for the fitness center.

West Chester has one of the largest centralized geothermal heating and cooling systems in the United States. It saves $1 million annually and significantly reduces pollution.
The Sciences & Engineering Center and The Commons, West Chester's newest and largest academic building, opened in the fall of 2021 to accommodate the University’s rapidly growing health science programs, physics, and the new biomedical engineering program as well as a dining hall and student support spaces.
West Chester has consistently been awarded the designation of “military friendly school” by G.I. Jobs Magazine for creating an intentional culture of understanding, acceptance, and success for veterans, active military, and those who support them.
West Chester is a founder of the Amazon Center for Environmental Education and Research, fostering rain forest conservation, discovering new plant and animal species and new medicines, and supporting indigenous cultures.
The Business and Public Affairs Center achieved LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification for sustainability. The School of Music and Performing Arts Center and the renovated Mitchell Hall are both LEED Silver.
