AD&D insurance can help protect families from financial hardship by paying a benefit upon death or serious injury due to a covered accident. Helps protect you against losses due to accidents. 

Effective March 1, 2024: As a result of the competitive bid process, MetLife was awarded the contract for Voluntary Life, AD&D, and LTD benefits. Over the next several weeks this site will be updated with new brochures and forms. 

Who is Eligible? 

AD&D coverage is available to active, permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee who works at least 50% of the full-time work week or a temporary full-time or part-time faculty member working at least 50% of full-time for one full academic year.

Benefits can only be elected within the first 31 days of eligibility.


How much coverage can I get?

Employee - increments of $10,000; maximum coverage lesser of 5x salary or $500,000
Spouse - increments of $10,000; maximum coverage $250,000
Children - amounts of $5,000 or $10,000

Actual per pay period premiums may differ slightly due to rounding. Benefits will reduce on age (see Benefits Reduction Schedule for details). Rates may be subject to change in the future.


How to Calculate Your Bi-weekly Cost of Coverage:
Step 1
: Find the above Monthly rate for you and/or your dependents.
Step 2: Determine the amount of insurance units of ten-thousands of dollars (For example, $200,000 of coverage is 20 units)
Step 3: Multiply rate (Step 1) rate by units (Step 2) to obtain your monthly cost.
Step 4: Multiply monthly cost (Step 3) by 12 to determine your annual cost.
Step 5: Divide your annual cost (Step 4) by your pay frequency (20 or 26) to determine your bi-weekly payroll deduction amount.
